Nashville, TN, June 2, 2008 - Burr & Forman's Nashville office has added Julie Mix McPeak as Counsel to the Insurance practice group. McPeak is the former Commissioner of Insurance for Kentucky and has over fourteen years of legal, state government, and administration experience. McPeak is the latest of several additions to the Nashville office and the Insurance practice group in general.

McPeak will complement the firm's strengths and extend its client service capabilities in the insurance industry. "I am honored to have the opportunity to join such an esteemed law firm and highly-respected practice group. I look forward to working with the insurance industry and continuing to serve regulators in this new role," McPeak said. She will focus primarily on life and health insurance, as well as insurer rehabilitations and liquidations, medical malpractice reform, and health care reform initiatives.

"We are extremely fortunate to add such a qualified and experienced attorney as Julie to our growing insurance regulatory practice," says Kevin Doherty, Chair of the Firm's Insurance Practice Group. "In addition, as a former chief regulator in Kentucky, she will add further depth to our group and our ability to represent the insurance interests of our clients in the most productive manner possible."

"This is an important step in our development of Burr's Tennessee presence, which began in 2006," added Larry Ahern, Managing Partner of the Firm's Nashville Office. "Julie will be a great addition to the Nashville office and to the firm's regional and national practices in insurance regulation and related fields."

McPeak received her J.D. from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1994. She is a 1990 graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she received her B.B.A., With Distinction, in Marketing.
