Atlas Comes Onshore in DC June 17, 2008 In its first venture into the onshore US captive arena, Atlas Insurance Management has been approved as a captive manager by the Department of Insurance in the District of Columbia. Atlas expects to form its first captives in DC shortly. Explaining the move, Martin Eveleigh, Chairman of Atlas said, “Over the years we have always responded to the needs of our clients and business producers by expanding into domiciles that give them the choice they are looking for. It is a logical progression for us now to begin offering our services in the formation and management of captives in the USA. This allows us to offer our clients greater choice and flexibility as they plan the establishment of their captives.” Atlas’s Managing Director, Nick Leighton said, “We have been impressed by what DC has achieved as a captive domicile and we are grateful for the welcome given to us by the Department of Insurance. We believe our clients will appreciate the regulatory environment in DC and, in particular, the courtesy and efficiency of Dana Sheppard and his team. For Atlas, DC was an obvious choice for our first entrance into the US captive marketplace.”
