Colorado State University researchers have slightly increased their forecast for 2023 Atlantic hurricane season activity and now predict a "near-average" season. The updated forecast—Colorado State's second forecast for the 2023 season—calls for 15 named storms, including 7 hurricanes, 3 of which will be major hurricanes of Category 3 or higher. Read More

Forecasters with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are predicting near-normal hurricane activity in the Atlantic Ocean this year. The NOAA forecast calls for 12 to 17 named storms, of which 5 to 9 could become hurricanes, including 1 to 4 major hurricanes of Category 3 or higher. Read More

Researchers at North Carolina State University are predicting a normal Atlantic hurricane season this year, with 11 to 15 named storms forming in the Atlantic basin.
