Mr. Scherer is vice president for Spring Consulting Group, an Alera Group Company. At Spring, Mr. Scherer consults with domestic and multinational organizations seeking alternative risk solutions, including providing strategic captive consultation to clients evaluating the utilization of a captive insurance company for the first time as well as those with existing captives looking for program enhancements.
Mr. Scherer has over 13 years of experience in accounting and financial and risk management, specializing in complex captive design and management. Prior to joining Spring, Mr. Scherer was vice president—alternative risk consulting with NFP, where he was the lead consultant for the Risk and Insurance Strategy Collective (RISC) team. He previously held the position of accounting and client relationship manager with Artex Risk Solutions, Inc., where he managed captive insurance companies while collaborating with and mentoring a team of industry professionals.
Mr. Scherer graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor of business administration degree in finance and a master's degree in accounting and financial management. Mr. Scherer is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California and also holds the RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) and Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designations. Mr. Scherer is an active participant on various committees and associations within the captive industry.
