A New Look and Tagline Will Greet Cayman Captive Forum Attendees
November 19, 2018
The Insurance Managers Association of Cayman (IMAC) launched the annual Cayman Captive Forum 26 years ago as the world's largest captive insurance conference, said IMAC. Established in 1981, IMAC said it serves as Cayman's captive and alternative risk management insurance industry representative, working alongside both government and regulators to ensure consistent compliance and robustness within the industry.
To this end, IMAC said, it set up an educational scholarship fund in 1994 and played a significant role in working with legislators in 2012 to modernize Cayman's insurance law—particularly laws that were related to ease of business for Cayman's insurance linked securities and reinsurance sectors.
A New Look and New Tagline
Leading up to this year's captive conference, in mid-September, IMAC announced the launch of its new brand identity, name, and tagline, "Cayman International Insurance—The Better Alternative." While the organization is still referred to as IMAC, what has changed is IMAC's global promotion of Cayman as a domicile.
Sarah Tatum of Fountainhead Business Development said the new tagline is "approachable, smart, and says what it does, ... and if you Google it, the search results aren't entirely comprised of Apple products!"
"For 37 years we've delivered the message that Cayman is a leading domicile that is filled with opportunity," said IMAC Chair, Erin Brosnihan. "And after decades of effecting change for this industry, we've come to realize that we, too, have changed. We are no longer an association trying to develop our industry—we have become the face of our industry."
Gearing Up for the 26th Annual Cayman Captive Forum
At the 26th annual Cayman Captive Forum, November 27–29, 2018, over 1,400 captive insurance specialists including captive directors, chief financial officers, risk managers, service providers, and captive managers from around the world will convene again in the Cayman Islands to discuss the issues most pressing to the captive insurance industry. The event provides a platform to connect, learn, and share insights and best practices.
Insurance managers, consultants, tax advisers, reinsurers, auditors, and lawyers will be out in full force, with plenty of opportunities for board meetings and memorable networking events.
The Forum is known for its first-rate educational content presented by industry experts matched with real-world experiences from those who operate captives. Captive owners and others seeking information on captive formations in the Cayman Islands will gain insights from a broad range of panelists and speakers.
The following provides a partial list of conference sessions. See the full speaker agenda on the IMAC website for the entire lineup of Forum speakers.
Afternoon Track A, B, and C sessions include the following.
