Aon Appoints Shailendra Sapra as CEO of Reinsurance for India

Aon has appointed Shailendra Sapra as the CEO of its reinsurance solutions division in India. Mr. Sapra will also join the reinsurance executive committee for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

Based in Mumbai and reporting to George Attard, the CEO of reinsurance for Aon's APAC region, Mr. Sapra initially joined Aon's reinsurance analytics team in 2010 and later led the Asia Pacific agriculture practice, managing key client relationships across regional and Singapore-based accounts.

In his new capacity, Mr. Sapra will focus on identifying growth opportunities within India's expanding insurance market. His goals include addressing the country's significant insurance protection gaps and fostering the growth of both new and existing insurance lines by offering additional capacity, solutions, and services.

Mr. Attard commented, "India is predicted to have the fastest-growing insurance sector of all G20 countries over the next 5 years; when coupled with the country's fast-growing economy, a proactive regulator, and an appetite for technology and innovation, its emerging insurance sector is clearly on an upward trajectory."
