Guernsey Finance Appoints Rupert Pleasant as Chief Executive
March 06, 2020
Rupert Pleasant has been appointed chief executive of Guernsey Finance, the promotional agency for the island's finance industry internationally.
Mr. Pleasant replaces Dominic Wheatley, who announced his departure in December 2019 and is scheduled to leave his role in June 2020. He joins Guernsey Finance from Beauvoir Group, where he was acting group managing director.
Mr. Pleasant has spent nearly 30 years working in the financial sector in both Guernsey and abroad, including work in Hong Kong and South Africa, two of the Guernsey finance industry's key markets.
In a statement announcing Mr. Pleasant's appointment, Guernsey Finance Chairman Lyndon Trott said, "Rupert's considerable international finance and marketing experience will be instrumental in continuing the contribution that the Guernsey Finance team makes in promoting the island as a leading finance center."
Mr. Trott said Guernsey is looking to innovate and seek fresh opportunities to promote the island and its finance industry across both current and new markets. "Rupert is passionate about the island and I am delighted that he has accepted the role of chief executive," he said.
"The finance sector remains the primary driver of growth in the economy of the island, so its promotion is fundamental to Guernsey's prosperity," Tony Mancini, chairman of the Guernsey International Business Association, said in the statement. "For this reason, the leadership of the promotional agency is so important. I am therefore delighted that Rupert will be the new chief executive. He brings a combination of wide international experience across a number of different sectors and a passion for Guernsey."
