Guernsey Finance Chief Executive Dominic Wheatley Leaving
December 12, 2019
Guernsey Finance CEO, Dominic Wheatley, will leave the organization on June 30, 2020. He began in the role December of 2014.
Chairman Lyndon Trott said, "The board is grateful to Dominic for his commitment and performance over the last 5 years. We move forward from a positive base with a strong team and strategy established and on the back of very positive outcomes during 2019.
"I shall be focused on recruiting the very best successor to work with the board to set and deliver the strategy for our collective future success as a specialist finance center."
Under Mr. Wheatley's tenure, during the second half of 2019, Guernsey said its captive insurance industry experienced a significant rise in inquiries and expects to end the year with record growth in new captive formations. The results are even stronger than anticipated amid hardening market conditions.
Guernsey accounts for more than one-third of the European captive insurance market and reported nine new captive formations in 2017, more than half of all new captives established in Europe that year, and five new captive formations in 2018.
Mr. Wheatley commented, "For the last 5 years I have had the great privilege and pleasure of leading the team here at Guernsey Finance and representing our island internationally. It has been 5 highly rewarding years, and I would like to thank the board, the GF team, and all of our stakeholders for their support and hard work over this period.
"However, the time has come to make way for new leadership to take Guernsey and Guernsey Finance forward and maintain their success into the future. I shall spend the next 6 months working with the board and the GF team and doing all I can to secure that future."
Recruitment of a successor to Mr. Wheatley will begin in January of 2020.
