Julie Mix McPeak Joins Greenberg Traurig

Greenberg Traurig, PA, has announced that Julie Mix McPeak will join the law firm's insurance regulatory and transactions practice. Ms. McPeak will serve as one of the founders of the firm's Nashville, Tennessee, location.

This follows last month's announcement from the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) that Ms. McPeak would step down in June as the department's insurance commissioner.

Ms. McPeak was appointed as Commissioner by then governor Bill Haslam in January 2011 and was reappointed in January 2019 by Governor Bill Lee. She is the first woman to serve as chief insurance regulator in more than one state.

Ms. McPeak recently served as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and currently serves as chair of its International Insurance Relations Committee. She is also an executive committee member with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), where her fellow IAIS members elected her to serve as vice chair of the group's executive committee in 2016.

Her track record of success, as well as her leadership roles in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, will provide a great benefit for the firm and for our clients."
