Allianz Commercial has appointed Lara Martiner as global head of alternative risk transfer at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, effective April 1, 2025. Ms. Martiner will continue in her current role as chief executive officer of Allianz Risk Transfer AG, a subsidiary of AGCS. She succeeds Grant Maxwell, who will depart from Allianz at the end of June after nearly 17 years with the company.

Allianz Commercial's alternative risk transfer division offers products such as structured insurance, captive fronting, parametric solutions, and sustainability-driven risk programs. In 2024, the unit generated over €2.0 billion in gross written premium, including fronting premiums.

Ms. Martiner joined Allianz Group in 2011 as legal counsel, head of compliance, and Zurich location head. Over her 14-year tenure, she has held increasingly senior positions within AGCS and the alternative risk transfer team. In October 2021, she was appointed to the executive board of Allianz Risk Transfer AG, later becoming chief executive and general counsel.

"Congratulations to Lara on her appointment to this key role in our business and I look forward to working with her. Alternative risk transfer is an area of key growth for us, and I have every confidence that she will continue to build on our capabilities and expertise, for the benefit of our wider business in [the] future. I would also like to thank Grant for his capable and effective leadership of this business unit over the last 5 years and his almost 17 years with Allianz Group," Vanessa Maxwell, chief underwriting officer at Allianz Commercial, said.
