Marsh has appointed Will Thomas-Ferrand as the new head of its captive insurance business, effective January 1, 2025. Thomas-Ferrand, currently Marsh Captive Solutions international practice leader, will report to Pat Donnelly, president of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement, and will continue to be based in London.

Ellen Charnley, who has led Marsh Captive Solutions as president for the last 7 years, will retire at the end of 2024.

Mr. Thomas-Ferrand, a 20-year veteran of Marsh, has held several senior roles within the firm's captive business. Prior to his current position, he led Marsh's captive operations in Malta and worked extensively with US clients during a 7-year tenure in Bermuda.

Mr. Donnelly acknowledged Marsh's leadership in the captive industry and expressed confidence in Mr. Thomas-Ferrand's capabilities. "For more than 50 years, Marsh has been at the forefront of the captive industry. Will's extensive knowledge, experience across geographies, and commitment to supporting our clients make him the ideal choice to lead our captive business."

Mr. Thomas-Ferrand added, "The evolution of the global captive insurance industry continues to gather pace as more organizations turn to captives to address emerging risks such as climate change and cyber security. Once the preserve of large multinational corporations, smaller organizations are also now benefiting from flexible captive solutions to support their growth strategies.

"I look forward to leading our highly successful team as we continue to champion captive insurance and alternative risk transfer solutions around the world."
