North Carolina Captive Group Announces Annual Conference Details

The North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) has announced the sessions and speakers for its upcoming in-person annual conference to be held August 30 through September 1 at the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina.
On August 31, Debbie Walker, senior deputy commissioner of the Captive Insurance Companies Division, North Carolina Department of Insurance, and Michelle Osborne, chief deputy commissioner of the North Carolina Department of Insurance, will discuss the challenges of captive insurance regulation that arose in 2020.
Also on August 31, Bob Bernatchez, a principal at Brisk Insurance Advisors; Dennis Silvia, executive vice president at Davies Captive Management; and Alex Webb, managing partner at law firm Webb & Morton, will discuss the issues to consider when deciding whether to move a captive insurance company to a different domicile.
In addition, on the same day, Anne Marie Towle, a senior vice president at insurance broker Hylant Group Inc., and Mike Meehan, a consultant at Milliman Inc., will discuss the practices that are most likely to lead to the long-term success of a captive.
Other sessions will focus on captive insurance legislative developments, captive insurance investment issues, and legislation affecting captives.

With 250 captives at the end of 2020, North Carolina is one of the largest captive domiciles in the United States.
