Paul Owens Joining Strategic Risk Solutions as Board Member, Adviser
May 27, 2020
Paul Owens will join the Board of Directors of Strategic Risk Solutions, Inc. (SRS), serving as an independent director as well as a strategic adviser to SRS.
Mr. Owens has more than 30 years' experience in the global insurance industry and the captive insurance industry in Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region. Most recently, he was CEO of Willis Towers Watson PLC (WTW) Global Captive Practice. He retired from WTW earlier this year.
"We have known Paul for a long time and have tremendous respect for his knowledge of the captive market, especially outside North America, which is important to us given our expansion plans in Europe and beyond," Brady Young, president and CEO of SRS, said in a statement.
"For me personally, I welcome the opportunity to discuss thoughts and ideas around the direction of the global captive and insurance industry with a peer who has seen and dealt with many challenges in his career over the past 30-plus years," Mr. Young said.
"It was a privilege to lead the WTW Global Captive Practice. Having retired and moved on from that role, I am keen to put some of the experience I have gained to use," said Mr. Owens. "I had great respect for SRS as a competitor and have been impressed with how SRS has developed into a very strong independent captive manager and a viable alternative to the broker-owned managers. I am excited to see how I can assist SRS in its global expansion, leveraging its compelling independent model and singular focus on captive management and consulting."
Mr. Owens will be based in the United Kingdom and will initially focus his strategic advisory role on the expansion of SRS's operations in Europe and other new regions, while also providing advice on governance, operations, and the overall direction of the business.
