The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) elected its 2024–2025 Board of Directors during its 39th Annual Conference held in Burlington, Vermont, last week. The newly elected board members include Julie Bordo of PCH Mutual Insurance Company, Aaron Ciullo of Marsh Captive Solutions, and Brenda Stewart of AIG Captive Solutions. Joe Carter of United Educators and Gail Newman of Bright Horizons were re-elected for a second term.
Kevin Mead, VCIA CEO, said, "I can speak for our staff and members and say VCIA is extremely excited to retain two outstanding captive professionals and bring on three more."
The VCIA board also finalized its leadership appointments for the upcoming year, with Ms. Newman assuming the role of board chair. Mr. Carter will serve as board vice chair, Jason Palmer as board treasurer, and Melinda Young as board secretary.
Ms. Newman, Bright Horizons' vice president of risk management, commented on her new role, "My fellow board members have put a tremendous amount of trust in me, and it's great inspiration to help lead VCIA to new heights."
Mr. Carter, VCIA's newly elected board vice chair and United Educators' vice president of business development and UE experience, said, "Helping lead VCIA is an opportunity to serve a wide spectrum of self-insurers across the country."
VCIA extends its gratitude to outgoing board members Andrew Baillie, Lawrence Cook, and Derick White for their contributions. The next VCIA board meeting, scheduled for October, will focus on incorporating stakeholder feedback and developing the association's Strategic Plan ahead of its 40th anniversary in 2025.
