Applications for two scholarship opportunities with the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) are now open, with applications due by June 30. The available scholarships are the Harry House Captive Insurance Scholarship and the VCIA Distinguished Scholar Award. More details are provided below and can also be found on the ICCIE website.

"As always, we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to offer these scholarships. Those who are supporting scholarship enrollments to ICCIE are doing a great service to the industry and playing an important role in helping to grow the captive landscape during this critical time of human resource replenishment. Scholarship recipients get a great opportunity to enrich their knowledge and understanding of the captive industry, which ultimately benefits everyone," said ICCIE Executive Director Mitch Cantor.

ICCIE will announce the recipients of both scholarships during the VCIA Annual Conference.

Harry House Captive Insurance Scholarship

The Harry House Scholarships, sponsored by HAI Group of Cheshire, Connecticut, are offered annually. There are two scholarships available: one covering the full tuition for the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation and one for a single modular course. These scholarships are reserved for minority students enrolled in either an Actuarial or Risk Management Program at an accredited college or university. Recipients will be selected based on scholastic excellence and good standing in the university community.

VCIA Distinguished Scholar Award

ICCIE offers one Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) Distinguished Scholar Award annually to a member of VCIA. This award, a full scholarship for an ACI designation, was established in recognition of VCIA's leadership and financial support. A panel of three industry participants appointed by ICCIE will review the applications and select the recipient.

The successful applicant must:

  • Be employed by a member company of VCIA;
  • Provide two letters of reference citing their achievements in or commitment to the captive insurance profession; and
  • Provide evidence of involvement in their community.

To apply for the VCIA Distinguished Scholar Award, please send a cover letter and other materials providing the above information to the address below or to [email protected].
