Montana Captive Group Offers Guide to Forming a Captive in Montana

The Montana Captive Insurance Association (MCIA) has issued a new report to provide more information about forming a captive insurance company in the domicile.
Among other things, the report explains the types of captives that can be licensed in Montana, the procedures that must be followed in setting up a captive, the details on the different types of captives, and the capital and surplus requirements captives must meet to be licensed.
The report also details the wide range of coverages now being written by Montana captives as well as the fees and taxes assessed on Montana captives.
In addition, the report lists and gives extensive background on Montana's captive regulators, detailed information about companies that provide management services for Montana captives, and the number of Montana captive insurance companies every year between 2001 and 2021.
